My firstborn, my (not-so) tiny babe, my mini me, turned 7 last week. How? How is that actually possible?!
We had a small slumber party for her and a few of her friends, and my parents came (laden with LEGO, bless them!).
The little girls played and ate, and danced outside in the sun when the rain cleared.
It was every inch a 7-year-old girl’s party, right down to the rainbow cake (a cheat’s version this time, because I’ve made that damn Pinterest rainbow layer cake twice – here and here), and I swore I was never doing it again!
I probably will, though.
Dinner for the kid crew was mini homemade mozzarella pizzas…
And dessert was a make-your-own ice cream sundae bar.
We turned the playroom into wall-to-wall beds and covered it in fairy lights for all the sleepover crowd.
Except they didn’t sleep for a very long time, which aged me greatly.
Choc-chip pancakes for breakfast served up by Chef Dad,
And a quiet morning of playing before being picked up, one-by-one, sleepy and happy.
Biggie had a fantastic time, which I was thrilled to see. Nothing like being princess for a day! Precious little thing. And what a wonderful bunch of friends she has at school, who all come with attached incredible parents. We hit the jackpot the day we walked through those school gates!
And mostly for my sake, here’s a blogful of birthdays:
Gorgeous feast Stacey. Very ambitious having a sleep over for a seventh birthday. For my son’s seventh birthday I ended up having about 30 kids turn up plus parents and family for my son’s seventh birthday & it was absolute chaos The Harry Potter party game host was traumatised, we had to give him an extra fifty dollars because of the unexpected amount of kids. Luckily my niece and a friend arrived and made pizzas non stop for three hours and we could go to sleep that night. But memories!!!
It was basically an accident, but it worked out very well! except for the bit where they didn’t sleep for ages… but such a lovely bunch of kids. Nowhere near 30 though! That would have been chaotic and amazing! the poor Harry Potter guy haha
Happy Birthday dear Miss 7. What a lovely celebration you had for her. Sleepovers…shudder…you are the best!
Have a wonderful Easter with your kiddles.
Denyse xx
it was my first! there was not much sleep haha
Have a wonderful Easter too, Denyse. It’s so lovely to know you <3
Wow that means I’ve been following your blog for over 7 years!
Happy birthday Biggie and happy parenting anniversary parents ?.
(I too have vowed that I would never again make the rainbow layer cake but I know I probably will now that I have bonus baby!)
Well that’s nothing to be sneezed at! Thank you for being on board this crazy ride with me – I really appreciate it. 7 years is a real effort! and so are bonus babies! How awesome x
