I love any excuse for a food or craft theme, and now that the girls are a little bit older, they really can get into the spirit of things. A ghost sandwich? They love it! So while they’re still little and I haven’t had any sleep since 1972, we’re keeping things simple. Parents in the same boat, here are some simple but cool ideas to get you into the spooky mood!
Black Cat Oreos // Party Pinching
Decorating a cookie that’s already baked – TOO EASY. Plus can be made vegan, as Oreos are vegan.
Witch Paper Halloween Countdown // Babycenter
I love stuff made with paper – we always have it so there’s no scrabbling for a thousand bits and pieces. Simple and fun!
Skeleton Veggie Snacks
I have looked everywhere for the original link to this but I CANNOT find it. For the healthies among you, get a veggie skeleton 🙂
Illuminated Ghost Garland // Design, Dining, and Diapers
I’ve got two sets of string lights that are perfect for this.
Hanging Foam Bats // HGTV
Cutouts and googly eyes – that’s it!
Boo-Nilla Shake // Martha Stewart
Milkshake with a face. Easy as.
Spider Web Scratch Art // Childhood 101
Colour in. Scratch it off. My kids will LOVE this.
Toilet Paper Roll Bats // Pracically Functional
I have plenty of these lying around…
Paper Plate Jack-O-Lantern // No Time for Flashcards
Super-simple.
Glow in the Dark Slime // Paging Fun Mums
A couple of things to grab if you don’t already have them (borax and glow-in-the-dark paint, I’m 1/2), but a very wow moment for the kids!
Mummy Jars // Crafts reDesigned
Five items: jars, bandages, glue, googly eyes, and battery candles.
Printable Monster Drawing Prompts // Picklebums
How cute are these? I love a prompt, I’m not very good at coming up with things on my own.
Vampire cupcakes! // Sugadeaux
Halloween Cups // Paging Fun Mums
Easy but effective!
Frankenstein Pudding // Come Together Kids
Vanilla pudding tinted green. Looks like I’ll be stocking up on cups!
What Halloween fun do you like to have at your place?

Love all the cute halloween things!
A note on Oreos not all oreos are vegan, the classic ones are but the mini versions of the same flavour are not.

Oh those vampire cupcakes are awesome!!
We don’t really celebrate Halloween… my kids would like to, but there is a long walk between houses where we live so trick or treating would be more like trick and trekking!! Sorry about the bad pun! Thanks for including our monster prompts!
Veggie Mama says
Yeah I knew you didn’t, but I figured you didn’t mind me including your monster prompts as a Halloween thing? I’ll use any excuse for a themed cupcake, haha
katepickle says
Yep the monsters are definitely a little nod to halloween… and we are totally loving all the halloween crafts and cooking as my big kids adore that kind of stuff, they are just starting to love the idea of scary things and being a little freaked out!
Veggie Mama says
I love that! And your printables are always the coolest, we use the playdough mats all the time. I think I enjoy kid craft more than the kids do…

Every year I buy treats hoping for trick or treaters and every year not one comes……….
Veggie Mama says
Haha me too! Then I eat them ALL MYSELF!

Thanks so much for including us in this super awesome round up Veggie Mama! I am soooo looking forward to Halloween this year! It will be the first time we take the kids ‘Trick or Treating’! My sweet, 3yo little girl wants to go as a….wait for it…ZOMBIE! Her idea not mine! Should be interesting…and of course a lot of fun! Thanks again 🙂
Veggie Mama says
I’m looking forward to it too – it’s the first time the kids can really get excited about themed stuff. We’ve just moved to a new neighbourhood so I’m not sure what the Trick or Treat situation is, but we’re going to decorate and eat crazy food and do fun crafts anyway. Slime at the top of the list! I can’t wait to see the zombie!

Sooo cute! I love the little black cat oreos and the bats in the trees. I love halloween and my kids are on count down already! Roll on the Saturday sugar hangover – eeeek!!
Stacey says
Haha my kids are too little to know how much sugar they could possibly get away with. I think this year will be our last with that!
Veggie Mama says
good luck tomorrow!!!

So… the links you gave are super cute and easy (as advertised) but OREOS ARE VEGAN? I mean… who knew… what is even in them I’m wondering now? Not that I care, mind you. But for some reason I’m really shocked at this. Ha!
Stacey says
Oh lordy, I sort of don’t want to know haha. I’m assuming something hydrogenated, and something HFCS. delicious things!
Veggie Mama says
I know! WHAT THE HELL IS IN THEM?

Oh I love this collection, Stacey. Love that these ideas are simple. Simple is always a win in our house! So excited to have our spider webs featured too – thank you 🙂
