Hello. I started this before I went on holiday so it’s a bit of a bumper edition. Enjoy with ya teapot on Sunday morning.
Quite a bit caught my eye (in amongst the ridiculous royal “exclusives” that I started to read for #royalpileofshit when normally I would avoid them like the proverbial), but these things I read kind of maybe gave me some hope that the world isn’t totally a roaring garbage fire.
Making food for vegans and vegetarians this Christmas (is not that hard, really) – some of these recipes look totally ace and perfect for all year round| ABC Life
How to prevent location data sharing (aka Google and our phones send information hundreds of times a day – even an hour – to god knows where and if that isn’t your bag, you can turn it off. Hot tip – I did) | New York Times
A retrospective of Roz Chast’s work (pictured above), is now on display at a Manhattan gallery, including drawings, childhood sketchbooks, hand-decorated Ukrainian-style eggs and a life-size “M.R.I. of Love,” based on one of her cartoons. Her cartoons are kind of Sesame-Street-like and unimstakably New York, perfect to look at if you feel a bit nostalgic for the Big Apple (and the neurotic folk who live there) | New York Times
Tish Murtha’s striking photography of childhood in the 1970s This was so good for a hundred reasons, but I truly loved just seeing kids running wild in the streets | BBC
Beto O’Rourke’s Rebirth as a Knausgaardian Blogger | Beto dares to blog old school! Long live the mundane chat | The New Yorker
I( loved this one for the simple reason that it’s a big deal a US Democrat senatorial candidate has started a blog of just… everyday life. Bits and pieces and thoughts and musings and daily travels, which as you know, is my favourite kind of blog, ever. )
Fakesgiving! Everything about this is everything. | Bitches Gotta Eat
What it felt like when “Cat Person” went viral Remember when the story about a girl kind of being trapped into having bad sex absolutely blew up because it was SO RELATABLE? This is what happened to the very real person behind the story (which was… fiction... by the way) | The New Yorker
How to Configure Your iPhone to Work for You, Not Against You I did almost every step of this and it took me a minute but I think it’s fabulous and my phone is so much better now (if only I’d ever replace that entirely smashed screen) | Better Humans
So what have you read this week? Anything of note? Not Meghan’s knees again, I hope

Hey Stacey, happy new year! Sounds like a lovely way to start the year I reckon! Love me some book club so I say stay! Will take some time soon to check out some of your articles but the Cat Person one is sending me to an anti spam page for the New Yorker with no link out, not sure why but I’ve tried on two different devices now. Hope you keep having a great start to the year, reality is about to sink in for us all soon!
