20 EIGHTEEN? I mean what even. The brand-new Veggie Mama blogger of 2010 had no real concept of what it would be like to still be publishing posts in 2018. It even sounds insane. Twenty EIGHTEEEEEEEEN.
Ok now that I’ve got that out of the way, hi! How are you? How was your assorted end-of-year festivities? Are you school holidaying? Are you back at work? Did you eat all the pavlova in the land?
Christmas for us was good, we were away for a week in Queensland, and when we got back we had houseguests who needed squiring about Melbourne to see some good times. After that, we chilled and today I’m back to work. It’s good.
This is a big year for us, with Smalls heading off to school (more on that later) and some projects I’d like to complete by December 31. Who knows, this might just be the year I get my shit together!
State of the Union Address
Before I do, though, I thought it would be fun to have a look back over the popular posts of 2017, bypassing of course the perennial favourite Vegetarian Sausage Rolls, Banana Pikelets, and Little Crochet Handbags for Kids.
Just like the American president who usually gives an account of the year prior and the year ahead (I’ll skip Drumpf’s this year thankyouverymuch), these are what you loved last year:
Food
It seems nostalgia got the better of us all, and we headed to the kitchen to relive our grandmothers’ favourites.
My go-to favourite vegetarian dinners
Be stuck in a rut no more with the dinners that get served up on my table again and again, and which have done for the last 12 years.
Look at those little bangers! Never buy from the shop again!
Ok maybe sometimes.
My favourite cauliflower cheese recipe
This even beat out my popular mac and cheese recipe, which was a surprise. They’re both bloody good.
Miscellaneous
The results of my blood test were in and surprised everybody.
The one where I gave away six months of free Netflix to four lucky winners, and spilled the beans on 10 of my favourite shows.
Life was kicking my arse majorly. And I almost had to ferret through the bin.
My baby is going to school and I of course feel completely rubbish about it
Speaks for itself, really!
2018
Will be the same shit you’ve come to know and love. More food, more stuff, more everything. The podcast(s), the book, the banter. I AM HERE FOR THIS.
