I have a terrible habit of never sticking to crochet projects until they’re done, unless there is a deadline.
I just can’t resist the urge to make something new (especially if it will work up quickly) and so here I find myself in the last few weeks trying to remember which thing is what and how many stitches go where.
Currently I only have two that need finishing (I’ve been SUPER conscientious recently), which is the sweet little dress, above, which is the next in a series of little dolly outfits to clothe the serious nakedness the girls’ dolls find themselves in. It’s a super-simple sweater dress pattern, of which I can make up a couple with some random coloured yarn I have in my stash that I’m not keen on making anything else out of.
I’m also on the lookout for other little patterns I can make.
This guy is the Little Miss Sunshine Baby Afghan, which I made recently for a friend’s baby shower. It took longer than I expected (and I’m pretty fast) so I ended up having to crochet for a whole day the day before, I watched almost the entire first series of Geordie Shore (ayyyye) and a couple of Absolutely Fabulous episodes before going to watch the movie a few days later.
It worked up really pretty and I put a sweet little blue border on it, which I’ll share soon. As always, things always look a bit nicer once they’re blocked and not all rumpled.
This behemoth of a thing is the Cleckheaton cowl I’ve been working on for a while. I heard someone say it took them nine weeks and I was all CHALLENGE ACCEPTED, but of course got distracted and now winter’s nearly over and I probably won’t even wear it now. I’m not a cream-cowl wearer but the wool was just too pretty to use on anything else.
See?
Very pretty although I don’t know what I’m going to do with it.
The last thing I made were some cable crochet fingerless gloves for a friend, which turned out really nice, although you can’t really see them in that pic. Although when you look at them, they look like this:
They’re soooo good, and I made them from pure wool so they’ll be super-warm. I originally started making myself a pair out of a random ball of wool I had but I ran out so undid them and made a simpler pair. But I’m going to make another lot next winter. They’re way too nice!
Next up on my list? This skull and hearts shawl, which the very talented Rach shared in the Veggie Mama Facebook Gang and I was all OMG WHAT IS THAT I WANT IT. Just lemme dig my black wool on out. It’s welcome.

Congrats on some finishing! At least the cowl will be there for next winter…

I was just thinking last night I might dye it – it will go with my current wardrobe much better and then it will get some trans-seasonal wear!

Is there a special something you have to do to join the Facebook group? I get a “content isn’t available” with that link.

I saw your post on ProBlogger and had to checkout your blog. I like to crochet as a hobby. Do you know of a nice pattern for granny squares? I want to start a project for my almost 2 year old. She loves crochet blankets.
Stacey says
Oh hello! Welcome! yes I do have an easy pattern – you can make the whole blanket a granny square or just do the first 5 rounds to make a smaller square you can then join together: http://theveggiemama.com/giant-granny-square-lap-rug-easy-peasy/
