They have the flu, I have the flu, EVERYBODY GETS THE FLU!
Influenza A has torn through our little school community and we are battling day 6 of it. Day 6 of churchyard coughs, small people vomit, runny noses, cold and flu tablets and all the paraphernalia that goes with three people down for the count.
It’s been dire.
Over the weekend I declared that on Monday, we were going to head to the nearest beach and just sit around, breathing in the fresh seaside air. There’s nothing better when you’ve been bouncing around the same four walls for days coughing in each others’ faces.
So yesterday we packed a small picnic lunch and some jumpers and headed down to the coast for a change of scenery and ocean breeze.
It was everything we needed and more.
We sat and ate lunch (those of us with appetites), spilled juice all over the towels (me) and hunted for seashells. I even enjoyed having to put a jumper on when the brisk wind turned chill. I could FEEL my lungs cleansing as I sat there, listening to the waves and watching the ships way out to sea.
God I love a moody sky with a shipwreck coast.
Anyway here we are gearing up for round two, because not one of us is out of the woods even 6 days in. I’m going to bed.
Hope the flu has spared you if you happen to be where it is, and if not – GET THE FLU SHOT, FOLKS, while you still can.
