This is a sponsored post for V8 Fusion.
So sometimes I drink juice, and sometimes there’s vegetables in it. If I’m gonna drink a delicious beverage, there might as well be extra virtue in it, no (especially if it doesn’t even taste like vegetable juice). I mean, as much as I love vegetables – and I do! – I always find that I just don’t eat enough of them in a day. And if I don’t eat enough, then my two Weet-Bix-lovin’ babes certainly don’t. They’re more likely to eat playdough then they are their daily 5&2.
So I have to get smart. I have to put it in things I know they WILL have, and I do the same for myself, even though I’m a grown-ass woman. Sometimes I blend actual kale in our smoothies, and sometimes we get juice.
Sometimes I have to put their fruit and veg in a tropical chia pudding. Don’t you?
6 tablespoons chia seed + 1 cup V8 Tropical Fusion + ½ cup coconut cream.
You can even add a little desiccated coconut to the mix, stir, and leave to set a bit. For the sweet tooths among you, add a wee bit of honey.
To be honest, I’m not big on fruit either, but I will happily drink it. Juice, smoothie, slushy – I’ll even eat an icy pole, but I admit I slack off in the whole-fruit department. One of my kids will eat just about any fruit put in front of her, but the other will only eat bananas. We keep trying with the new fruit and the different veg, but it’s slow going.
Sometimes, I just like juice, is all. Especially tropical, mostly citrus, I will come at berries if forced.
But virtue aside, V8 tastes great, and is super-convenient (especially when travelling and those little boxes of bribe I give my kids to get through a flight or similar don’t need refrigerating. WIN). I’m pretty partial to juice with a leisurely weekend breakfast, or even if I’m having the longest day ever in front of the computer. I get that sweet distraction that makes me think I can get through the rest of the afternoon without passing out on the couch, but I’m also getting one serve of fruit and one serve of veg at the same time. Don’t nobody mention the chocolate chips I sometimes eat instead…
And now that it’s getting hot, we’ve been circumventing daily demands for ice cream with fun homemade versions – although Biggie calls hers “ice lollies” and I’m wondering which UK TV show she’s been watching too much of.
If you want to make them too, we do one side blueberries and V8 Cranberry Apple Fusion, and the other half V8 Tropical fusion, half coconut cream. Freeze overnight.
V8 Juice will even have Juiceology Bars at shopping centres in New South Wales, Queensland, and here in Victoria next month, so you can go and try the Fusion flavours yourself. We’ve really enjoyed them, but we heart V8 juice anyway (the veggie juice makes the BEST gazpacho… just sayin’).
You can find the Fusion flavours in the supermarket. Chuck ‘em on ice and you’ve got yourself a little summer treat – we take ours on picnics and to parties. Made from real fruit and vegetables, in a blend that plays up the sweet (and turns up the Vitamin C). You’d never even know there was sweet potato in there! Plus with no added sugar or preservatives, you know you’re getting goodness straight up.
I’ll even be at the Juiceology Bar in Melbourne in the coming weeks, so you can come down, poke me, and get some juice. What a fine day out, huh?!
PS – do you like berry juice? I really much prefer citrus. I wonder if there’s something wrong with me…

That pudding is so pretty! I like pretty much any juice except stuff with carrot in, it’s a sickly sweet flavour!
Veggie Mama says
Oh I don’t mind carrot, I kind of feel as though it’s got an earthy flavour. But agree with juice that is too sweet – NO THANKS.

I’m with ya sister! I literally just posted on my facebook page that I’m a sucker for a good lemony taste. Citrus all the way….
Veggie Mama says
I remember being pregnant and I HAD to have a lemony juice every day for months. I didn’t really crave anything, but lemon had to be everywhere!

Haha I’ve no idea where she gets it from! I say icy pole and she’s like “can I have an ice lolly, mum?” hilarious.

So I have the most hilarious V8 juice story ever!
The husband LOVES V8 juice, drinks it all the time. One morning he got up early to go to work, swigged half a litre of what he thought was V8 juice & off he went. That night I went to make dinner but couldn’t find the passata is left in the fridge. Turns out the idiot drank passata mixed with beef stock & Italian herbs I had left in the fridge!!
What a dickhead!?
Veggie Mama says
Oh good god that made me laugh! He was enjoying a fine accidental gazpacho, haha!

I lived on those V8 poppas/juiceboxes when I was a journo and couldn’t face breakfast at 3:30am. The orange based ones were my favourite… anything that was too banana-flavoured just didn’t sit right.
Now when I get a juice ‘squeezed’ I get carrot, beetroot, lemon and one apple. Lovely Husband thinks it tastes like dirt.
Veggie Mama says
i agree, carrot and beetroot is super earthy. I’ve gotta put some orange or pineapple in that biz. Mint, too.
The Plumbette says
I love all juices! Any with added veggies is a bonus.

That’s what I think!

Veggie Mama says
That’s ok, I’ll drink your citrus 😉
