I remember wondering where to buy fair trade easter eggs many moons ago, and it was like searching for the back of your earring at 2am in the club. I ended up in Myer in the extremely expensive gift shop section, buying a bright blue monstrosity that I couldn’t even be sure tasted any good.
Nowadays they’re much easier to find, although still (sadly) not ubiquitous, nor plentiful. But, thankfully, we’ve come a long way since that night at the club. I mean, Myer.
Where to Find Fair Trade Easter Eggs
Chocolatier is super-easy to find and they’ve outdone themselves this year with the sheer volume of Easter chocolate delicacies. You could sort your whole family out just with this lot. Gift packs, easter egg hunt packs, mini eggs, eggs with bits in them, fancy eggs, and even chocolates that look like hot cross buns. Check them out for yourself – there’s something for everyone here.
Available at: Coles, Woolworths, David Jones, oxfam, larger supermarkets, and specialty stores.
Divine has a bunch of cute Easter stuff this year (check out the range here), and while it’s probably too late to order online, they’re still available from this list of retailers. There’s a few shops near me that stock them, so I’ll be having a look this week.
Absolute Organic only have two easter eggs this year (two is better than none though!, a dark chocolate, and a milk chocolate, which you can get at Your local organic, health store, IGA or fruit shop.
Coles are jumping in (cautiously, it seems) with one bunny. I hope it tastes good.
UTZ CERTIFIED
While not quite as stringent or as strong as fair trade certification, products that are UTZ certified are coming from farms that are working to be more sustainable, and farmers that have better conditions and opportunities.
All of the Choceur, Dairy Fine, Moser Roth and Specially Selected Easter range at Aldi are UTZ certified. They have a huge range of bunnies, eggs, beanie eggs, caramel mini eggs, – even chocolate shaped like a cow! Plenty to choose from here.
Haigh’s chocolates are also UTZ certified, and the range they have this year are dark and milk chocolate eggs, ducks, mini eggs, chickens, bilbies, lollipops, gift boxes, and even a chocolate murray cod. You’re welcome.

Have I tempted you? 😉

love the new look VM 🙂 And LOVE the fact that you have tracked down all the fair trade chocolate for me. Trying to be more conscious of these things, you know.

Thanks D! I’m in the same boat. And I do so love the new look.

I’m so glad fair trade is becoming more common, hopefully it will become the norm sooner rather than later. Between that and avoiding palm oil in Easter eggs & hot cross buns it can be a tricky time of year to buy ethically!
Veggie Mama says
haha totally! Although when I think back to 10 years ago – I almost feel spoilt for choice!

Our Easter bunny got some Chocolatier items this year. I plan to pillage the Easter basket!
I love the new look. So fresh and so clean!
Veggie Mama says
We won an easter basket at kinder in a raffle, so our easter bunny doesn’t actually have to do anything but put them in a new bucket 😉
Thanks so much! I really love it but I was wondering what others would think!

Oh the memories you’ve revived. Looking for the back of my earring (or even the earring) in a club at 2:00am is something I recall with sentimental nostalgia. Your Easter egg suggestions are also brilliant. I have a very sensitive and socially conscious and ethics minded ten year old nephew and I will look for your Chocolatier eggs in Coles for him and tell him about the fair trade Easter bunny! Happy Easter to your own gorgeous little bunnies 🙂
Veggie Mama says
hahah I look back at those days with nostalgia too. They were so damn fun!

Yay. I bought dark Haighs chocolate, beacuse it is yummy and I like to support South Australian businesses. (Adelaide girl here) I am extra pleased to know that their chocolate is UTZ certified. That means I can buy extra ‘for the kids’…
