It turns out I’m going back to university to study my first love of English Literature (Cue soaring success feelgood hero music).
I enjoyed studying psychology, enjoyed studying teaching for the five seconds I studied it, loved studying creative writing only when I wasn’t actually having to write anything (that university didn’t offer an English Literature degree so I chose CW as it was the closest I could get – I’m an excellent reader but a incredibly mediocr creative writer it turns out), loved my history minor, loved journalism for a hot minute until I really didn’t and loved politics and international relations when I could understand it and if I’m honest even when i couldn’t. yes I know you’re exhausted reading that so was I doing it when I should have probably just done English Lit in the first place.
Anyway, I’m here now, the University of Melbourne has fancy old buildings I will die a thousand deaths in every day, I’ve unfortunately not forgotten how hard and how much work university is (and now postgrad what on earth am i thinking), and my nerdy heart is happy.
Remind me of this when I’m so far in I hate everything and everyone. Thank you.
