The Throne Rangers Episode 21: The Cambridge Bunch

We are back with all the Cambridge goodness we couldn’t fit into the last episode. Soothing blue coats! Sportsball! Culottes! Royal Tour excellence!

It was a time.

Evelina London

We discuss the rise of the culotte.

Kensington Palace

And the engagement where Cath and Bill trotted off to Birkenhead to tour the UK’s new polar research ship the RRS Sir David Attenborough, AND to officially name it not Boaty McBoatface, which was (no disrespect to Sir Dave) a real disappointment.

Kensington Palace

The Aga Khan held a reception for C+W ahead of their Pakistani tour, where Cath stunned all in this floaty ARoss Girl x Soler frock.

William met a human support robot. (idk)

The family went to the footy (spot Kate’s long-time friend (and Char’s godmother) Sophie Carter/Snuggs on the right) to watch Aston Villa. We were just here to watch George go nuts on the win.

You can also read about why William chose to follow Aston Villa here – yes I’m embarrassed to know these things.

Cathy and her bouncy blowout went to the Natural History Museum.

Bill went down the pub to watch even more footy.

It looked stressful.

Then… the tour. Everything we wanted and needed from a royal visit.

Kensington Palace

They even checked in on Tattooine, which was nice of them.

Kensington Palace

My favourite bit of the tour though was, I think, everyone’s favourite bit of the tour (unless you’re really into dogs).

Back at home, William left a message in the match programs of some more football games – he spent a lot of time discussing and promoting mental health among men in these visits and notes.

Kensington Palace

The pair also hosted the Radio 1 Teen Heroes of 2019. Cath was in an upholsteryish dress, which I desperately wish she’d paired with the cool green ankle boots they were styled with but absolutely didn’t.

William held an investiture, looking every inch the future monarch…

… and held an audience with Danny Faure, The President of the Republic of Seychelles, at Buckingham Palace. These are things we’ve traditionally seen the Queen do and it’s really driving home at the minute that the future is here as she winds back her duties.

Cathy dipped into Insta captions, which didn’t sit well with me.

And we will see them all this week for Remembrance Day commemorations before H&M head over to the states for Archie’s first thanksgiving.
