The sun is shining in London (I assume) and the royals are doing their usual Summery things – which is always a joy!
As I said to Bev on episode 17, it has totally felt like The Cath Show lately. She’s been everywhere doing all the things.
Her garden was glorious, and I desperately wanted it in my backyard immediately if not sooner.
Mom and Dad showed up to a garden party (Haz was at an earlier one) and I don’t know how Kate’s heels weren’t sunk up to her ankles in that grass. Look at that control!
He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named swanned into the UK for a state banquet and some ill-fitting suit experiences. It was awful from start to finish, but we got to see Our Cath with her new Dame Grand Cross sash and it soothed us all.
She also took the salute at Beating the Retreat, which is saved for Very High-Up Royals usually… says a lot about where she and Will are increasingly headed.
TROOPING happened and we discussed outfits, LOUIS, the “Harry Made Meghan Cry” conspiracy theory (spare me) and all the news from the big day.
It was SO nice to see Megs out! for the split second we saw her, anyway. They defs kept a low profile.
Meanwhile, I felt the need to clear up some confusion that seems to pop up after every episode that isn’t a full 90 minutes of the Let’s Praise Meghan show. We have received a few reviews and emails of late complaining that we hate Meghan and it’s ruining listener’s listening pleasure. I don’t know how much more obvious I need to be that I think Meghan is fucking fantastic, but here goes: Meghan is fucking fantastic. I love her. I love all the royal family (I feel ambivalent toward Princess Michael of Kent, to put it politely): I AM TEAM EVERYONE.
Our humour doesn’t always translate, that we understand. We take the piss, it’s what we do. But I feel we speak positively enough about everyone to balance that out. If they wear something weird, we’ll tell ya. If their instagram captions are a snoozefest, we’ll say so. No-one is immune but we love them all ENOUGH TO MAKE A PODCAST WITH OUR TIME. They’re good. We’re good. Let’s move on.
Genuinely love a royal around a kitchen table and Mom + Dad’s trip to Cumbria gave me all the joy I could possibly have hoped for. They even shore sheep! This is a fine time!
Baby Archie was the star of the show on Father’s Day with his little baldy head. What a peach! I just think he’s adorable (and no I don’t think Harry was subtly flipping the bird to the media, what is wrong with you people?).
Bill has been hanging out with Gran meeting dignitaries (including our Governor-General) and probably learning the ropes.
Cath did some more stuff
And things
And even helped create outdoor activity cards for families to get out and interact with nature. You can download them here.
HAZ IN UNIFORM PRAISE BE visited the Royal Hospital Chelsea for the Founder’s Day Parade, which was utterly delightful.
The Order of the Garter earned itself a couple of new members and the European Royal Wives were out in fashionable force to celebrate. Maxima! Letizia! KICKING FASHION GOALS RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW.
But Our Cath in her Elie Saab fairytale at Ascot set our hearts aflutter. Have you ever seen anything so gorgeous?
Backing it up with this glory – look at that face! How is it legal a real human being can have a head like that? What chance do the rest of us have?
Liz had a coronation anniversary,
And the Sussexes did that thing they do every month where they shine a spotlight on new accounts for the month. Their most recent topic was Pride, and I gave it all the applause in the world. Nice work, H&M!
Charles did James Bond-like things with James Bond,
And Cammy did some literary things.
Clarence House shared this fab throwback of the POW literally getting down and dirty at Highgrove in the garden, of which I thoroughly approve.
And bless him, Phil turned 98! Still kicking! amazing.
So have a listen below or on your favourite podcast app, and let us know if you have any questions you’d love answered. This week we chat about the Royal Foundation splitting, whether or not we thing Mama Meg feels left out of a busy June schedule, and will Zara ever do more royal engagements?
