One of the firsts posts on this here blog was these Easter chick cupcakes – which I made PRE-KIDS (which should tell you a lot about me), and which I’ve never made again.
Which is hilarious, because they’re great and the kids would love them.
Oh well, maybe next year.
The 2010 baby chicks were swiftly followed by, I think, one of the first times I worked with a brand on a review. I did the Finish Quantum Chocolate Challenge, and found myself buying those dishwasher tablets for years afterward (until I no longer had a dishwasher) because they worked so well. So did these caramel easter egg brownies I made.
2012 was a great year, for not only did I make the Hot Cross Buns from the Woman’s Day 1967 recipe cards, but, this fish dish was shared with the wider internet:
At least the hot cross buns were ok, if a little chewy and not at all like your favourite supermarket or bakery variety:
2013 found us in New Zealand, driving around the South Island for a week with the kids. Bigs was newly two, and Smalls was six months. And they were pure angels the whole trip.
2014 I was deep in crochet land, and had made this cute little bunny:
And we spent a Very Nice Weekend in the Yarra Valley at a super-cute little country getaway:
2015 I had my wisdom teeth out and we drove along the Great Ocean Road, which I barely remember thanks to the post-op Mersyndol.
No idea what I was doing in 2016 for Easter, but I definitely had scoured Netflix for all the 90s-themed movies they had (important stuff).
And also made the best hot cross buns of my life.
This year we’re at the Mornington Peninsula for a little family getaway, and so far it’s been a solid 10/10 – but more on that later!
