The Throne Rangers Podcast Episode 10 – Royal Wedding 2: Back in the Chapel

Well here we are, FRESH off the news that Haz and Megs have made a baby, with another episode of your favourite royal podcast!

Of course, we didn’t know about the bebeh when we recorded this, but it’s chock-full of the Jack & Eugenie wedding (omg Fergie you are the best), AND The Triumphant Return of…

Dun dun dunnnnn! Our Cath! At last. What a long five months that’s been.

She visited Sayers Croft Trust Forest School and Wildlife Garden, which gives inner city children from various schools a unique opportunity to learn about and engage with the natural world.

This little girl utterly obsessed was me. Everywhere Kate went, she went. If she could hug or hold her hand, she was into it. During story time, finished her drink and handed it absent-mindedly to Kate like she was her mum. It was GOLDEN.

Meghan launched Together: Our Community Cookbook, a charity cookbook helping families affected by the Grenfell Tower fire that she has been working with quietly for the last few months. Her mum came along for Megan’s first headlining engagement, and Harry stole some samosas when he thought nobody was looking. So great.

If you’re interested in the multicultural recipe book, you can get your own from almost all Aussie bookshops, and of course the Book Depository and Amazon. all proceeds go towards sustaining the Hubb Community Kitchen.

Speaking of solo engagments, Meghan stepped out without Harry or her mum (or the Queen, for that matter) to view the Oceania exhibit at the Royal Academy.

Back in the Givenchy again, and I am glad of it. They dress her so well.

(much was made that she shut her own door after exiting from the car, as if no royal has ever done that before. I can assure you, they have!)

Straight hair and slacks for the Coach Core awards, where Meghan actually sported (she threw a ball or something) in her Oscar de la Renta jacket before helping Harry present awards to the winners. A couple of kids brought up the new season of Suits in a chat with her, which she swiftly dodged before changing the subject.

The Queen of the World Documentary was aired on ITV (I think you can still catch it on YouTube), a two-part series focusing mainly on the Commonwealth. Meghan was featured discussing her wedding dress and veil upon seeing it for the first time after the wedding. There were some lovely close-ups of the native flora stitched into the veil (including wattle, which was pretty) and the cute admission that there was a piece of her first-date-with-Harry dress sewn into the lining of her gown as her “something blue”.

ITV must have thought they were onto TV gold, because they played that snippet of video not once, not twice, but THREE times across the course of the two hours. Every time you turned around, Meghan was pointing out Commonwealth flowers stitched into her veil. Again.

As for Harry, he comes and speaks to Caribbean hospitality scholars at Buckingham Palace after… SHUTTING HIS OWN CAR DOOR. True fact.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the first Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit and did some painting. Wills absolutely nailed Kate by joking she shouldn’t touch the painting she was invited to add to because she’d ruin it. She, of course, graduated university with a History of Art degree and is a talented artist herself, which we got to see when she sketched St Mark’s Church for Pippa & James’s wedding Order of Service.

Meanwhile, when Kensington Palace announced Cath and William would be attending, they chose this shot of Kate wearing the Emilia Wickstead dress on the Poland/Germany tour that she actually ended up wearing to the Summit. Never seen that before! Quite the coincidence.

William went to Africa, and delivered the keynote speech at the opening session of the 2018 Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference at St James’s Palace, which he attended with his brother.

The Sussexes actually visited Sussex (listen to me royally fuck up trying to say “Chichester”, it’s spectacular), where they visited the iconic Royal Pavilion in Brighton (and my Auntie who was visiting from Australia got to see them), spoke with members of the Survivors Network Knitwork Project, watched theUniversity Chamber orchestra rehearse Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and saw for themselves the Sussex copy of the Declaration of Independence. Because, randomly, there is one!

LOVED this skirt/shirt combo, the pair of us. Meghan’s penchant for a green pencil skirt is becoming legendary.

Also legendary was the chat surrounding Cath’s appearance at the Victoria and Albert Museum’s new Photography Centre, in what was commonly known as the upholstery/soft furnishing/unfinished/eyesore Erdem. Beth LOVED it something fierce and while I felt the asymmetrical neckline and odd length were utterly fantastic, I was still trying to come to terms with the rest.

One thing we can both agree on though, was that she looked sensational in it.

Of course, we go TO TOWN on Eugenie’s wedding, which was an utter delight for us both. Fergie obviously the star of the show (no idea how many times I’ve watched her take her seat, it has to be in the thousands – what a treat that was), and the outfits the stuff podcasting royalwatcher dreams are made of. If you didn’t see Charlie Bendystraw’s former wife in that baby blue jumpsuit/furry hot water bottle clutch/felt baker boy cap situation, do yourselves a favour.

The other highlight for the pair of us was Prince Andrew being the world’s best bridesmaid, absolutely faffing the bejesus out of Eugenie’s dress at all times. FAFFING. it was a joy to watch. We even saw him literally run at several points throughout the day, making sure the dress was in its full glory. Give that man a drink, he nailed it.

Speaking of nailed it: how’s this Zac Posen dress Eugenie wore for the private dinner reception! 11/10 girlfriend, this was sky-high perfection.

So get your listening ears on as we go deep into all the details of the last royal fortnight AND discussion of the current Down Under tour, which we OF COURSE will be at, live, catching you all the best info from Sydney and Melbourne.
